Leading Native Title representative body is seeking a Legal Officer and a Senior Legal Officer to become a part of the growing team.

This land council is recognised for its strong commitment to representing Aboriginal peoples to regain rights to land and sea, preserve their culture and achieve self-determination.

The legal officers will be responsible for providing advice and representation to claimants in matters relating to native title, mining and land tenure. You will be preparing and conducting land claims under the Native Title Act and Aboriginal Land Act and liaising with external organisations.

The Senior role reports to the Principal Legal Officer and is concerned with management of the native title unit and supervision of other staff. The ideal candidate will have several years' experience in Native Title law and proven management abilities.

The junior Legal Officer role involves providing support and assistance to the senior legal officers and compiling reports in relation to work undertaken. Prior experience in Native Title and providing general commercial advice will be highly regarded for this role.

Candidates for each of these roles must hold a current driver's licence and be eligible to hold a practising certificate in Queensland.
