Job Description
The position can be vocational training position as it is accredited with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). It can also be for a Medical Officer who wishes to increase his/her knowledge and experience in Mental Health without joining the RANZCP Training Programme. The position will involve providing medical service in a bio-psychosocial Mental Health model at a Registrar level to patients in a public health district setting. There will also be work in the emergency Mental Health Assessment Area, during working hours and after hours on a roster basis. The position is a member of a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals.
The Fraser Coast Health Service District covers two major population centres – Hervey Bay and Maryborough with a number of smaller communities in close proximity. The District population is 85,000 and is serviced by the two Public Hospitals, two Nursing Homes and two Community Health Centres at Maryborough and Hervey Bay.
Mental health care is provided by multi-disciplinary teams comprised of Psychiatrists, Principal Medical Officers, Team Leaders, Social Workers, Psychologist, Occupational Therapists, Nursing staff and Administrative personnel.
